abdominal pain

Pain in the abdomen (tummy) is common, and many causes of abdominal pain are not serious and can be easily treated. In some cases, abdominal pain can be a sign of serious disease, so it is important to accurately diagnose and manage abdominal pain.

To diagnose the cause of abdominal pain, the doctor will take a complete history, perform an examination, and arrange appropriate tests. Such tests may include endoscopy (gastroscopy or colonoscopy), X-rays, ultrasound tests, or CT and MRI scans.

There are many causes of abdominal pain, which can include indigestion (dyspepsia), gallstone or gall bladder issues, problems with the pancreas, constipation and bloating, food intolerances, stomach ulcers, kidney or bladder problems, inflammatory bowel disease, and endometriosis.
